This Le Creuset stockpot is a wonderful all-purpose pot. With its rich color and classic shape, it doubles as a gorgeous show piece.
Made of enameled cast iron, it can go from the stovetop to a 450°F oven. The handles are welded on and formed into the sides, so there are no rivets.
Even with your stove on the lowest setting, this pot will heat up rapidly and uniformly and simmer all day long. The smooth surface does a great job of browning meat and vegetables and deglazes like a charm.
I find the 5½-quart size is perfect for most tasks. Flex your biceps though, it is heavy!
